SP C250DN Color Dens/Reg under Maintenance

Have an SP C250DN that printed perfectly today. Tonight it's spreading black toner all across the page.

I'm using generic toners. Is this a 'problem'? Recommendations?

Pet peeve of mine is those stupid little counter chips locking me in to only so many copies. Yeah, you can purchase them on AMZN.

Just want to know if there is some sensor that needs to be cleaned, or what?

FYI I used to repair Minolta copiers back in the day (1980-86) and ugh Savin, so I understand the process pretty well. Hope I can be of some help?

Ok, I fixed the problem.

I replaced the black toner cartridge with a new unit and viola!

I had refilled the black cartridge and replaced the chip prior to this.

This printer doesn't appear to have a waste toner container and I think what may have occurred is the waste toner was full in the cartridge?

Not sure exactly, but now it's working. Apparently, there's a limited life span to the cartridge? Drums will last much longer than manufactures suggestion. I have squeaked out 3x the life before.

If anyone else can add to the mystery of no waste toner container I'm sure everyone will learn something here.
