Failure Diagnosis in Start-up Systems
This chapter will focus on the failure location identification in the case that the power does not turn on or the operation panel does not display any indication when turning on the power of the main unit from the operation panel.
Diagnosis method
Check the specified voltage is supplied to the each board by a tester. Follow the next flow to diagnose.
Flow of voltage supply check
POWER SUPPLY UNIT: 11.0v, 31.7v
MAIN PCB UNIT
J4701
7 or 8 pin: 7.9 to 11.0V
1 or 2 or 3pin: 31.7v
J1604
7 pin:5.0V
15 pin:3.3V
19 or 20 or 3pin:3.3v
Precaution for checking voltage supply
  • When removing the rear side board cover (with the guide), make sure that the AC power cable has been unplugged from the printer main unit.
  • Before performing the diagnosis flow (1), AC power cable needs to be connected to the printer main unit, however, never touch POWER SUPPLY UNIT after connecting the AC power cable.

Failure Diagnosis in Start-up Systems
Diagnosis flow
  1. MAIN PCB UNIT > connector J4701 > check the voltage between 7pin or 8pin and GND (7.9V to 11.0V).
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the screw fastening MAIN PCB UNIT.
    - When the voltage is supplied Go to (2).
    - When the voltage is not supplied Go to (3).
  2. MAIN PCB UNIT > connector J4701 > check the voltage between 1pin or 2pin or 3pin and GND (31.7V).
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the screw fastening MAIN PCB UNIT.
    - When the voltage is supplied Go to (4).
    - When the voltage is not supplied Go to (3).
  3. Check if overcurrent protection is performed in POWER SUPPLY UNIT.
    Unplug the AC power cable and the cable connected to the connector J4701 of MAIN PCB UNIT temporarily. Wait for 10 seconds, then connect only the AC power cable again.
    CHECK (A)
    Check the voltage (7.9V to 11.0V) between GND and 7pin or 8pin of the cable (HARNESS ASS'Y, POWER SUPPLY) connected to the connector J4701 of MAIN PCB UNIT.
    CHECK (B)
    Check the voltage (31.7V) between GND and 1pin or 2pin or 3pin of the cable (HARNESS ASS'Y, POWER SUPPLY) connected to the connector J4701 of MAIN PCB UNIT.
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the main unit chassis in CHECK (A) and (B).
    - When the voltage is not supplied in one of the CHECK (A) or (B). Replace POWER SUPPLY UNIT.
    When the voltage is supplied in both of the CHECK (A) and (B). Replace MAIN PCB UNIT.
  4. MAIN PCB UNIT > connector J1604 > check the voltage between 7pin and GND (5.0V).
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the screw fastening MAIN PCB UNIT.
    - When the voltage is supplied Go to (5).
    - When the voltage is not supplied. Replace MAIN PCB UNIT.
  5. MAIN PCB UNIT > connector J1604 > check the voltage between 15pin and GND (3.3V).
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the screw fastening MAIN PCB UNIT.
    - When the voltage is supplied Go to (6).
    - When the voltage is not supplied. Replace MAIN PCB UNIT.
  6. MAIN PCB UNIT > connector J1604 > check the voltage between 19pin or 20pin and GND (3.3V).
    <Note> Contact GND of the tester to the screw fastening MAIN PCB UNIT.
    - When the voltage is supplied Go to (7).
    When the voltage is not supplied. Replace MAIN PCB UNIT.
  7. Check the connection of cables connected to OPERATION PANEL UNIT (2 cables).
    - When the cables are firmly connected. Replace OPERATION PANEL UNIT.
    - When the cables are not firmly connected such as askew and not fully engaged. Connect the cable again.
