Troubleshooting. Paper Delivery Problems 2
Poor Paper Transport
Problem:
Tears occur in the center of paper leading edges
Cause:
Paper tray was set without pushing down the bottom plate of the tray, causing the leading edge to slip.
Details:
Can occur after adding fresh paper to paper tray. Can occur at the beginning of machine use or over time.
Solution:
Check installation of the paper tray.
Problem:
Both corners of leading edge become dog eared
Cause:
Dog-earing can be caused by both corners of the leading edge getting caught in the paper transport path.
Details:
If the paper is thick and has been left unwrapped for a long time, or it is recycled paper, replace with normal paper.
Solution:
• Confirm that paper is set correctly in the tray. (Problems can occur with leading/trailing edges, front/back sides of paper in the paper feed path with paper from different lots.)
• Make sure that paper is stored correctly in its vinyl packs until ready for use.
Problem:
Paper double feeds
Cause:
Paper in the feed tray can easily stick together.
Details:
Leading edges of the paper are burred.
Solution:
Fan the paper stack before loading it in the tray (this gets air between the sheets of paper).
Problem:
Paper jams occur frequently
Cause:
A paper jam has not been removed, or paper in poor condition.
Details:
Paper in poor condition.
Solution:
• Change how the paper is set by rotating the stack front-toback end, front-to-back side.
• Make sure that paper is stored correctly in its vinyl packs until ready for use.
Problem:
Excessive curl
Cause:
The moisture content in the paper may be high, depending on how paper was stored.
Details:
If the paper is thick and has been left unwrapped for a long time, or it is recycled paper, replace with normal paper.
Solution:
• Switch curl prevention mode on.
Printer model: Menu key > System settings > Curl Prevention Mode
MF model: Setting icon > System settings > Curl Prevention Mode
• Change how the paper is set by rotating the stack from front-to-back end, front-to-back side.
• Make sure that paper is stored correctly in its vinyl packs until ready for use.
Problem:

Succeeding pages cannot stack cleanly, due to excessive curl of sheets on the paper exit tray.
Details:

Solution:
• Switch curl prevention mode on.
Printer model: Menu key > System settings > Curl Prevention Mode
MF model: Setting icon > System settings > Curl Prevention Mode
