Checking the current firmware version

1. Call the Service Mode to the screen.
2. Touch [Firmware Version].
3. Select the firmware to be updated and check the current version.

Preparations for firmware upgrading

System requirements

• PC equipped with a USB port
• USB memory device

Saving the firmware data into the USB memory device

1. Save the firmware data in appropriate space in the PC.
2. Connect the USB memory device to the PC.
3. Create a "firmware" folder immediately under the drive of the USB memory device.
4. Copy the firmware data (***.prn) in the firmware folder created in step 3.

NOTE

• Be sure to save the firmware data in "drive:/firmware/***.prn."
• The printer can display up to 20 files of firmware data during upgrading.
• The control firmware includes the following three types of file.
  Firstly upgrade the sub firmware, and then upgrade the main firmware.
  • CntUpA3GN*******-899.prn : Sub Firmware
  • CntUpA3GN*******-999.prn : Main Firmware (non-supported for Web browser)
  • CntUpA3GN*******-W99.prn : Main Firmware (Supported for Web Browser)

How to write controller firmware data

1. Turn the power switch ON.
2. Connect the USB memory device to the printer.
3. Call the Service Mode to the screen.
4. Touch [Firmware Update].
   
5. A list of firmware data in the USB memory device will be displayed.
6. Select the sub firmware data.
   NOTE
   • Check that the selected firmware (sub firmware) has a file name shown below.
   • CntUpA3GN*******-899.prn
7. Before upgrading firmware, use [Details] to check that the firmware data is correct. Touch [Close].
8. Select the sub firmware data to be upgraded and press [Execute].
9. Touch [OK].
10. The firmware upgrading procedure starts.
    NOTE
    • Do not turn off the printer while its firmware is being updated.
    • NEVER disconnect the USB memory device from the printer during the firmware upgrading procedure.
11. The printer is automatically restarted as soon as the firmware is upgraded correctly.
12. Call the Service Mode to the screen.
13. Touch [Firmware Update].
14. A list of firmware data in the USB memory device will be displayed.
15. Select the main firmware data
    NOTE
    • Check that the selected firmware (main firmware) has either file name shown below.
    • Check that the firmware version is same as that has been upgraded in the previous step.
    • CntUpA3GN*******-999.prn
    • CntUpA3GN*******-W99.prn
16. Before upgrading firmware, use [Details] to check that the firmware data is correct. Touch [Close].
17. Select the main firmware data to be upgraded and press [Execute].
18. Touch [OK].
19. The firmware upgrading procedure starts.
    NOTE
    • Do not turn off the printer while its firmware is being updated.
    • NEVER disconnect the USB memory device from the printer during the firmware upgrading procedure.
20. The printer is automatically restarted as soon as the firmware is upgraded correctly.

How to write other firmware data

1. Turn the power switch ON.
2. Connect the USB memory device to the printer.
3. Call the Service Mode to the screen
4. Touch [Firmware Update].
5. A list of firmware data in the USB memory device will be displayed.
6. Before upgrading firmware, use [Details] to check that the firmware data is correct. Touch [Close].
7. Select the specific firmware data to be upgraded and press [Execute].
8. Touch [OK].
9. The firmware upgrading procedure starts.
   NOTE
   • Do not turn off the printer while its firmware is being updated.
   • NEVER disconnect the USB memory device from the printer during the firmware upgrading procedure.
10. The printer is automatically restarted as soon as the firmware is upgraded correctly.
