Checking firmware version

Check whether the firmware installed on the machine is the latest version. If it is the latest version, there is no need to install the firmware. If it is not, be sure to install the firmware to the machine as described in “Installing firmware”.

How to check firmware version

1. Press and hold the [Home] key for approximately five seconds while the machine is in the ready state. Press the blank field at the bottom. Press the [*], [0], [0], [0], [0], [0], and [0] key on the LCD in this order, and the machine enters into maintenance mode.
2. Press the [2], and then the [5] key in the initial state of maintenance mode. “MAIN:Ver*.** (#)” is displayed on the LCD.
3. Change the displayed item by pressing the [Mono Start] key to check all firmwares.
4. When you press the [X] key, this operation is finished and the machine returns to the initial state of maintenance mode.

Memo:
• You can also check the sub firmware and main firmware versions by implementing “Print maintenance information (function code: 77)

Installing firmware

Note:

• Do not disconnect the power cord or USB cable from the machine or computer during installing.
• PF-P23/PF-P24 has its own firmware. The firmware is included in the main firmware. When connecting the option to the machine and turning on the power switch, the firmware will be updated with the main firmware version of the machine.
• Prepare a computer on which printer driver for the machine is installed.

Memo:

• If the installation is failed, turn OFF the machine and turn it back on. The machine enters the firmware install mode automatically. Continue the operation procedure below.

Operating Procedure

Firmware installation using PC

1. Connect the machine to your computer using the USB cable
   Note:
   • Installation the machine in the standby state (in the ready state that an error has not occurred and nothing is operated, or in the sleep state).
2. Double-click update.bat in the FirmUpdateTool folder. Device search starts and a list of target devices is displayed.
3. Select the target device that you want to update, and click the Update button.
4. The following screen is displayed, and the Main FW installation starts.
   Note:
   • During the data receiving, “Receiving data” is displayed on the LCD.
   • Installation will start after all data has been received. (During the program installation, “Receiving program” is displayed on the LCD.)
5. The machine will restart after the installation is completed.
6. After restart, click Next button to start the Sub FW installation. (If there is no Sub FW update, it automatically advances to the next phase.)
7. All FWs installation is completed, and click Next button to display the following screen, and Update ends.
8. After restart, enter into the maintenance mode. Enter the machine code.
   • Enter into the maintenance mode. (refer to “How to Enter Maintenance Mode”).
   • Enter the machine code (destination setting code).
   (refer to “Configure for country/region and model (function code: 74)”)
9. Print the Printer Settings from the menu and check the firmware version.
10. Turn OFF the power switch of the machine, and disconnect the USB cable.
