How to Enter the Maintenance Mode Exclusive to Service Personnel

Operating procedure

  1. Hold down the Home key for about 5 seconds while the machine is in the ready state. The screen shown on the right is displayed on the LCD.
    Memo: If you cannot find the Home key, press the Toner key, and the Home key lights up.
  2. Hold down the blank space at the bottom of the LCD for about 2 seconds. The screen shown on the right is displayed on the LCD.
  3. Press the *, 2, 8, 6, and 4 keys on the LCD in this order. The screen shown on the right is displayed on the LCD and the machine enters the maintenance mode.
  4. To select one of the maintenance mode functions shown in “List of Maintenance-mode Functions”, directly enter the function code that you want to use with the ten-key pad.

How to Enter the End User-accessible Maintenance Mode

Basically, the maintenance-mode functions listed in the next page should be accessed by service personnel only. However, you can allow end users to access some of these under the guidance of service personnel by phone, for example. The end user-accessible functions are shaded in the table given on “List of Maintenance-mode Functions”. (codes 09, 10, 11, 12, 25, 28, 41, 43, 45, 52, 53, 54, 61, 66, 68, 71, 72, 77, 80, 82, 87 and 91)

Operating procedure

  1. Hold down the Home key for about 5 seconds while the machine is in the ready state. The screen shown on the right is displayed on the LCD.
    Memo: If you cannot find the Home key, press the Toner key, and the Home key lights up.
  2. Hold down the blank space at the bottom of the LCD for about 2 seconds. The screen shown on the right is displayed on the LCD.
  3. Press the *, 0, and # keys on the LCD in this order. The machine gets ready for the input of a function code. Enter the function code you want to use.
  4. When each of the maintenance mode functions is completed, the machine automatically returns to the ready state.
