  • Description: PF PID excess speed error
    State in which driven at unexpected speed (fast) for control.
  • Causes: • PF Timing Belt detached or broken
    • PF gear train part damaged
    • PF Motor failure
    • Main Board failure
  • Remedy: 1 Check the PF Timing Belt Is the timing belt detached or broken?
    Y: Go to step 2
    N: • When the belt is detached, reattach it. • When the belt is broken, replace the Printer Mechanism.
    2 Visually check the PF gear train parts. Check the PF gear train parts to make sure that there is no foreign object on or damage to them.
    Y: Go to step 3
    N: Replace the Printer Mechanism.
    3 Replace the Main Board Assy. Does the error occur after replacing the Main Board Assy?
    Y: Contact the EPSON Service Department.

  • Description: PF PID reverse error
    • State in which load of PF Motor exceeds expected load
    • When rotated in the opposite direction to rotation direction
  • Causes: • Jammed paper or foreign object remained
    • Feed rollers are worn out.
    • Gears locking due to foreign object
    • PF gear train parts damaged
    • Contact damage (contact failure)/disconnection/half insertion of PF Encoder FFC
    • PF Encoder failure
    • PF Scale failure
    • PF Motor failure
    • Main Board failure
  • Remedy: 1 Visually check the paper feed path. Is there no jammed paper or foreign object remaining in the paper feed path?
    Y: Go to step 2
    N: Remove the jammed paper and foreign object.
    2 Check the status of the feed rollers. Is the PF Roller or Paper Guide Upper Assy damaged or worn out?
    Y: Go to step 3
    N: • Replace the Paper Guide Upper Assy. • Replace the Printer Mechanism if there are any scratches or wearout on the PF roller.
    3 Visually check the PF gear train parts. Check the PF gear train parts to make sure that there is no foreign object on or damage to them.
    Y: Go to step 4
    N: • Remove any foreign objects, if present. • Replace the Printer Mechanism if the gear is damaged.
    4 Check the status of the PF Encoder and FFC Check the PF Encoder to make sure that it is not damaged, and there is no disconnection or contact failure in the FFC.
    Y: Go to step 5
    N: • Replace the PF Encoder Board if parts are damaged. • Properly connect the FFC. • Replace the Printer Mechanism if the FFC is damaged.
    5 Check the status of the PF Scale. Is the PF Scale dirty or damaged?
    Y: Go to step 6
    N: • Clean, if dirty. • Replace the PF Scale, if damaged.
    6 Replace the Main Board Assy. Does the error occur after replacing the Main Board Assy?
    Y: Replace the Printer Mechanism.
